Airstream 685 announced

Airstream 685 - 2012 modelAirstream has announced it will unveil a new, family-orientated, five berth trailer at the NCC Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show in February. The innovative International 685 – Airstream’s biggest to date – boasts three fixed bunks at the rear, two berths up front and is based on the luxurious 2.5m-wide Series 2 684 which launched in May 2011.

Anthony Slocock, Technical Director at Airstream Europe, said: “Ever since we unveiled the award-winning 684 in 2006, we have been under pressure to design and produce a family model for couples with two or three youngsters in tow. The new 685 has been designed in such a way that five people can now sleep in individual comfort and we think it will be a great success.”

The clever new layout features three Italian-made aluminium alloy framed beds, a top bunk (1913mm x 765mm), middle bunk (1822mm x 718mm) and lower bunk (1978mm x 753mm), complete with timber retainers and 100mm thick mattresses. An individual reading light and 12v supply are available to each bunk, and ample storage room and full exterior access can be found under the rear centre bunk.

Five bedroom drawers in the rear bedroom mean each family member can enjoy their own storage place while the wardrobe storage capacity has been increased to cope with extra clothing. The 685’s rear area becomes a true bedroom suite when the bathroom door is opened 90 degrees, separating the rear from the front of the trailer which can be configured either as a double bed  area (2212mm x 1392mm) or two singles (1781mm and 1693mm x 710mm).

Like the award-winning Series 2 684, the 685 also comes with extended shower, kitchen and seating areas. Corian worktops are offered as standard in the bathroom and as an optional upgrade in the kitchen and buyers can also opt for a rotating worktop extension and residential-style undermounted Franke sink with Corian drop-in-lid in the kitchen.

The interest over the years in a large family-orientated European Airstream has always been there and now we can deliver a travel trailer that comfortably fulfils the requirements of a family of five.  Family touring has never been so luxurious or cool and we are delighted with the results.”

The Airstream International 685 will start at € 75.500 and orders are now being taken for spring delivery.
